The founder of Gahanna-based start-up When I Grow Up – which offers a fun and inspirational clothing line for all ages from newborn to adults – is awaiting a call from the producers of the ABC reality series Shark Tank to see if she has been chosen to appear on the show.

Shannon Anello, who founded When I Grow Up in 2009, was recently notified that she had been vetted from a pool of an estimated 10,000 initial applicants and will continue through to the next elimination process. She will be notified in mid-June if she has progressed through the final elimination round to appear on the program to air this fall.

The ABC reality series Shark Tank gives budding entrepreneurs the chance to make a business deal with one or more of ‘the Sharks’, which include: Mark Cuban, real estate mogul Barbara Cocoran, technology innovator Robert Herjavec, fashion and branding expert Daymond John and venture capitalist Kevin O’Leary.

“It has been the most intense experience that I’ve ever been through,” Anello says of the process. I’m having a hard time waiting to see what the outcome will be. . . the days aren’t going by fast enough for me!” she professed. If chosen, Anello will be given the unprecedented chance to make her business grow immediately.

When I Grow Up encourages children and adults to use their imagination, get an education, and follow their dreams by wearing apparel that expresses what they want to be when they grow up. The shirts spark the imagination and the hope to inspire children – and adults — to follow their dreams.
